Here's something I made earlier...

To earn a place as an Upstart I had to devise a print campaign for a bookshop to get people excited about reading. Here it is...

I have shown contrasting book titles side by side to illustrate the variety of books that Booksamillion offers. Each book represents a character and are put in scenarios with other books that are unexpected and contradictory. Where else would you get it? - Booksamillion.

You can experience everything you've ever dreamed of through a book. Reading makes all those adventures that we long for a possibility, without the drawbacks! You can travel to the four corners of the world, experience new things and even find Mr./Mrs. Right all in a days reading.

Something I don't like...

This is an ad I don't like...

This is why...

"What's happening darling?" - would "What's wrong darling?" not be more appropriate given the setting?
I'm baffled as to why the boy would go to the effort of drawing the problem (even though his drawing skills seem to be pretty advanced) when simply telling his mother would have been a lot easier. And where did he find the pen and paper??? Perplexing.

These are a few of my favourite things...

Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTJ7AzBIJoI
Some good advice that never gets old. Great visuals and great words.

Toy Story http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEy2ksKfG9k
An original and clever storyline from Disney Pixar that fuels the imagination.

Bulmers Pear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pvx54YKUbxU&NR=1
Great ad that continuously makes me chuckle.

Garfield Minus Garfield http://garfieldminusgarfield.net/
Garfield without Garfield reveals a facinating take on Mr. Jon Arbuckle .

Pictures for Sad Children http://www.picturesforsadchildren.com/index.php?comicID=1
John Campbell's dark and quirky stories make for interesting reading.

And we're off...

Having spent most of Monday drumming my fingers against the table in anticipation, I was glad (as I'm sure the table was) when it was finally time to make my way to ICAD offices. Eager beaver that I was, I arrived early. I took a deep breath and stepped through the door...ICAD Upstarts 2009 here I come!

Over the course of the evening and a few beers, I met my mentor and my fellow Upstarts and the first brief was distributed - Create your own blog. So, here it is.....
